Welcome to

The Zonta Club of Albany

Founded in 1929

Zonta International is a worldwide service organization of individuals working together to advance the status of girls and women, with more than 26,000 members in more than 1,100 clubs in 63 countries. The Zonta Club of Albany was founded in 1929 and today continues to advocate for women and children locally and worldwide.

Members meet monthly usually on the second Wednesday of the month, from September until June, at various locations throughout the Capital District. Our members are from a variety of professions and come together to plan projects to benefit our community as well as to raise funds to support Zonta International projects. Some local organizations that have received support from Zontians include the Next Step, Schuyler Inn Homeless Shelter, Capital Rescue Mission Women’s and Children’s program, Koinonia Primary Care Center, Family Promise, the Legal Project and St. Paul’s Center.

The Zonta Club of Albany participates in district and international award programs, including Young Women in Public Affairs, the Jean M. Coon Humanitarian Award and the Jane M. Klausman Woman in Business Award. Local award programs include the Frances Woodward/Helena Roscoe Nursing Award and the Zelda Uthe Award for a law student to serve as an intern at the Legal Project.
