GOVERNOR’S GREETING
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 2008-2010 biennium. As we embark on this journey together, our Zonta District 2’s theme is Make a Difference! I encourage you to offer your own gifts to this distinguished organization, as we strive to advance the status of women. Our District is very fortunate in having extraordinary leaders and I feel privileged to walk in the footsteps of former Governors. I encourage networking between Zontians, clubs and districts.
At the outset, may I commend ZD2’s webmaster, Wanda Turner. She has offered her expertise in developing and guiding the website since its beginning many years ago. All of us who are learning to master modern technology are thankful for her continued leadership. She can be reached at: Wanda@NorthCountryComputer.com .
I am deeply indebted to the ZD2 Board and Committee Chairmen of 2008-2010, as they join me in meeting the challenges of Zonta in the 21st century in helping to empower women and girls. Our goal is to ensure that our clubs know that we are here to serve and support them. Those of us who attended the Zonta International Convention in Rotterdam, Netherlands, returned home energized to meet Zonta International’s Mission and Goals for 2008-2010 through strategic planning in service and advocacy.
To implement ZD2’s theme, Make a Difference!, the Board will encourage clubs to focus on increasing ‘Membership’ by continuing to recruit dedicated professional people with diversified backgrounds. It is important to offer meaningful programs that relate to Zonta International’s goals. In continuing to retain members, let us be more flexible and open to the growth of new approaches and ideas. Our Lt. Governor, Sue Ann Cunliffe, (sueann@dlaadspecialties.com) is the ZD2 OMC Chairman and is willing to assist clubs in this effort.
Our ZD 2 Area Directors are available to each of our clubs this biennium and are the clubs’ direct link to Zonta International’s input. They will communicate with our club Presidents on a regular basis. You are encouraged to contact them at any time. They are:
Area 1 Chris Legg celegg@roadrunner.com Area 2 Mary Lynne Van Waldick mlv276@gmail.com Area 3 Maureen Costello momac14904@yahoo.com Area 4 Anita Crowe anitacrowe1@gmail.com
The other members of the ZD2 Board are Debbie Abel, Treasurer, Suzanne Scales, Secretarial Administrator, Elaine Jachim, Parliamentarian and Jane McEwen, Foundation Ambassador. These people play very vital and distinct roles on behalf of the District. We are also honoured that the ZI Treasurer/Secretary, Gloria Wristen and the ZI Service Chairman, Dolly Dastoor, are from our District. We will be calling upon their expertise!
I want to emphasize that it’s important for the clubs to know that we are ALL available to serve and support you. Please let us know when you would like us to visit your club. Here’s to the 2008-2010 biennium as we strive to Make a Difference!
