Money raised by the Country Faire is used to fund local scholarships and community service projects. The Zonta Country Faire is held the same weekend as the LARAC (Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council) festival which is located nearby in the City Park. The LARAC festival attracts 30,000 people. This year's event will be held on June 15 & 16, 2013. Click here for additional information and reservation signup form. Zonta is a worldwide service organization of executives in business and the professions working together to advance the status of women. It is a non-partisan and non-sectarian organization with ethnic and geographic diversity. Zonta International has nearly 33,000 members, in 1,254 clubs, in 67 countries; which provides many opportunities for networking and fellowship. Zonta was organized in November 1919 in Buffalo, New York. The Glens Falls club was established in November 1924, with 20 members and now boasts over 60 very active members. Locally Zonta uses fundraisers such as the Zonta Country Fair and the Zonta Women’s Golf Tournament to support many community service projects. Funds raised provide over $7000 each year in local scholarships, Women's Heart Health Project in conjunction with the Glens Falls Hospital and the Uniquely You Boutique located in the Glens Falls Hospital. Membership is by invitation, anyone interested in additional information about the Glens Falls club should contact the club president HERE.
Zontian of the Year Jean Bureau was invited to a Zonta meeting back in 2005. Donna Partridge invited her because she felt that Jean was the ideal candidate to become a Zontian. Jean gave 100 percent all the time and was a team player all the way. According to Donna, she was very dedicated and committed to whatever she did. Jean has been the Treasurer of the Foundation for two terms. She is currently President of the Foundation. She is the first Zontian to hold that office for two consecutive terms. Jean is quiet, but very competent. When she says she will do something, she does it. She is very organized and develops tools to enhance her work. She put our Foundation budget in top format that allows them to maintain efficient records and she developed the survey tools to allow them to do comparisons of fund raisers to determine our best money makers.
All of these tools are necessary if we are to save time and money, as well as our members efforts! She is a whiz kid when it comes to business practices and understanding return on investments. Jean is currently Vice President of Loan Services at Glens Falls National Bank. This bank office position keeps the bank functioning. Without Jean, the bank would be hard pressed to keep track of all the business functions and keep our money accounted for. Jean is married with two children. Her daughter is a student at SUNY Plattsburg and her son is a Junior at Lake George High School. Her daughter has been a great volunteer for Zonta. Congratulations, Jean!
| Members of the Zonta Club of Glens Falls attended a day long seminar focused on Nourishing, Mentoring and Building on the Strengths of members of Zonta. |

The Zonta Club of Glens Falls awarded scholarships to 5 local students at their annual dinner honoring the awardees. The Club raises the money for these awards through local activities including an all women's golf tournament and two craft shows: downtown in June in conjunction with LARAC, and at the Adirondack Balloon Festival in September. Zonta is a global organization of executives and professionals working to improve the status of women worldwide through advocacy and service.
