Zonta is a service organization of
executives and professionals, founded in Buffalo, NY in 1919 to
improve the legal, political, economic and professional status of
women through service and advocacy. The word, Zonta, is derived from
Lakota Sioux Indian word meaning
"honest and trustworthy'".
Zonta's colours are mahogany and gold and its symbol is a yellow
rose. Districts and Clubs focus on the goals set by Zonta
International relating to promoting justice through universal
respect for human rights and the fundamental rights and freedoms of
women. For details about Zonta International's Service, ZISVAW and
Educational Leadership Programs,
